June 1999 - This is what the children of Jesus M. Lozano wanted to say about
their dad. Oh Daddy… what can we say about Daddy. He was a true Texan;
loved deer hunting, horses, baseball and the Dallas Cowboys. We remember him talking
about playing football while in school… they would call him the "Jack Rabbit"
because he was real fast. Dad loved horses and horse races. Throughout the years,
he had some Quarter Horses and Thoroughbreds… his favorite was his Black Stallion,
Apache. We would love to go to the stables to watch him with Apache… that horse
was very high-spirited and ornery but not more than our dad. The thing
we remember most about our dad was his love of story and joke telling. One of
the stories he told was about being out in the ranch as a young boy and something
startled the cows that sent a bone chilling scare up his spine… he said he grabbed
onto one of the cows tails and didn't let go until he got to town. And then the
one about when he and our mom were first married… they were sleeping in a barn
and there was a cemetery close by… he felt something on his feet and looked and
saw a ghost… a white lady with long hair sitting on his feet. He said he covered
his head with the blanket and looked again but she was still there… he said, "I
didn't tell your mother what I saw because I was afraid she would go to town and
leave me out there all alone." The last joke our dad told was last week
as he was slipping in and out of being coherent. Out of the blue he started saying
something in Spanish that rhymed and my mother started laughing she said, "He
just told a chiste (pronounced: cheese teh), a joke." We would like to share his
last joke with everyone: Bueno, Bueno le dijo la mula al freno, Aviendo sacate
y agua, Todo esta bueno. (The translation doesn't make much sense but it is funny
in Spanish.) Good, Good, the mule told the harness, Having grass and water, All
is good. We would like to share what dad's grandson, Jacob Lozano
had to say about his grandpa. He said, "Grandpa is an Angel in the Outfield, he
is out playing baseball with his brothers again just like he used to. I know that
Grandpa is watching over me, he's now my guardian angel." We would like
to thank Vetas Crisis Care Nurses who were with our dad around the clock for the
last three weeks… thank you for taking such excellent care of our dad and for
supporting us through these difficult times. Our sincere gratitude to St. Mary's
Catholic Church, to relatives, friends and co-workers for your daily support and
prayers… we could not have made it without you. We had a ritual we would
always go through when visiting our parents… upon leaving, we would always go
up to mom and then to dad, we would give each a big hug and a kiss and would tell
them, "I love you, God Bless you." In closing we would like to say, "Daddy, your
new spiritual life has just begun, free from disease, pain and agony… you are
safely home in Heaven at last, with the Lord; your parents; and your brothers;
Tio Amadeo, Tio Balde and Tio Pancho. Daddy, we are sending you a big hug and
a kiss… until we're together again…"We love you daddy and God Bless you." |

Home
I am home in Heaven, dear ones; Oh, so happy and so bright! There is
perfect joy and beauty In this everlasting light. All the pain and
grief is over, Every restless tossing passed; I am now at peace forever,
Safely home in Heaven at last. Did you wonder I so calmly
Trod the valley of the shade? Oh! But Jesus' love illumined Every dark
and fearful glade. And He came Himself to meet me In that way so
hard to tread; And with Jesus' arm to lean on, Could I have one doubt
or dread? Then you must not grieve so sorely, For I love you dearly
still: Try to look beyond earth's shadows, Pray to trust our Father's
Will. There is work still waiting for you, So you must not idly
stand; Do it now, while life remaineth-- You shall rest in Jesus' land.
When that work is all completed, He will gently call you Home;
Oh, the rapture of that meeting, Oh, the joy to see you come!
