| The Gemsbok is a large antelope hailing from Africa originally. They are doing very well in Texas and their numbers here are growing larger all the time. This is probably the only one of the Oryx family that has huntable numbers in their native habitat. A large male can weigh around 400 pounds, with a large female up to 250 pounds. The Gemsbok is one of the more striking looking of the so-called Super Exotics. This animal is mostly gray colored with black and white markings along the belly and legs. It also has black and white mask looking markings on its face. Both sexes have long, pretty straight, black, sharp tipped horns. The male's horns are usually thicker at the base.
